It’s so easy to say if you want to create a life you love or gain the career you want, to just go out and get it. Often times you think about all of your responsibilities such as taking care of children, paying the mortgage/rent, electric, water, car note, daycare…you get the picture. Thinking about all of this can send you crashing hard back to reality.
Maybe you’ve been going back and forth with the idea this is the way life is supposed to be, maybe you continue dragging yourself into the 9 to 5 that doesn’t offer no real opportunities for growth or it doesn’t connect you to what you love. Or maybe you feel stuck in a relationship that you’ve been in for awhile, but you know it’s not progressing. I’m hoping this post will give you some real ideas you can take action on today! (At the latest, tomorrow depending on your time zone:)
#1 – Truly Believe in the Vision for Your Life:
It starts out as a thought you often replay in your mind and from there, is a choice you have to make – either dismiss the thought or move ahead in pursuit of it. So once it’s clear, write it down and begin mapping out the first steps you can take.
If it’s connecting to a career you love, then start researching information about that particular field, contact organizations, or attend seminar/workshop. Oh and know that you’ll meet up with opposition or people who don’t understand; that’s fine. Remember to hold tight and protect the vision given to YOU.
#2 -Take Action
It only remains a fantasy or dream, when it stays in your head. When you take action towards something you desire, is when you move from theory to real life. The best way to strengthen your courage muscle is to go ahead and try it. You can always to take small actions and then build up from there.
For example: If you’re currently working in a 9 to 5, but know you want to build your business as a graphic designer, you can start by carving out time to map a business plan, join business communities that can provide guidance, show your work on Instagram, create packages of your work for things people need right now-website, logo, newsletter header etc….you get the idea.
Once you take action, be consistent in order to build momentum. Also, think about building up your savings for 6 months to a year, because as your business grows and you(eventually) decide to leave your 9 to 5, you’ll already have working capital and clients coming to you.
#3 Get Clear on Your Values
Your values are the things you believe are important in how you live and work. They help determine your priorities, and, deep down, they can be the measures you use to tell if your life is turning out the way you want it to.
When you’re clear about your values they become powerful reminders whenever life seems out of balance. Your values shape the vision, which creates a personal map of where you want to go; it’s always a reference point for your life. So, are you teetering on whether you should step outside of your comfort zone? Take a moment, right now, to see if your life reflects the values you need in order for it to be meaningful. If something isn’t sitting right with you, it’s time to examine it and actively make some changes! Onward!
Questions to reflect on:
- What area(s) of your life do you need to take action?
- What do you have to let go in order to feel free?
Because I have so much to share about building up the courage to go after what you want and truly “living” life. I am making this a two part post. Take in what you’ve read today and carry it with you during the week. Stay tuned for part 2 of this post in the upcoming week.
Until next time……. Greatness Awaits!
